REAL BRIDE: Lauren

Zachary & Lauren Boyd

12.10.16

Details, details, details! Every moment of Zach & Lauren's stunning December wedding has blown us away. From brewing their own beer, an amazing flower wall, a record as a guest book, & everything in between, this couple hit it out of the park. & can we talk about those smiles & those laughs (& their dog)?! Happiness is the best thing a bride can wear on her wedding day & we love seeing our brides radiate with it!

How did the two of you meet?
"I was waiting for a table at Eggtc. on Main with two friends, & Zach was eating breakfast at the bar with a friend. Turns out, our friends knew each other! After saying 'hi' & chatting briefly, we made plans to go to Tower Tavern to watch playoff football- I later found out that Zach orchestrated the football watching to meet me. Our first date was that next Wednesday."

"I loved how comfortable my Lis Simon gown was! The movement in the skirt was so fun!"

What advice would you give to future brides in regards to dress shopping?
"Never schedule more than two appointments in one day & remember that finding a dress is like finding your fiance... once you find "the one," just stop looking, even if it is the first dress you try on."

Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
"Our wedding was in the middle of December, so we wanted the whole evening to feel like a cozy, warm, & elegant retreat from the cold. We wanted to embrace the season, but I didn't want a Christmas wedding. Don't get me wrong though, I love Christmas! So we used a lot of cream & ivory, gold, navy, & added in pops of cranberry & lots of greenery. Reds & greens without being red & green!"

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
"Does everyone say it's hard to pick just one? Because it is! We love music, so I would say when the band played a cover of "Brand New Colony" for our first dance. We hadn't heard the band actually play the song, so we had no idea what it would sound like. It was beautiful, so meaningful, & even though we were surrounded by a couple hundred people, it felt like it was just us."

Where did you draw your inspiration & ideas from?
"A little bit of Pinterest & a whole lot of our personal likes. We never felt like we made a decision based on what we were 'supposed' to do. We had an inside joke from the first time our group of friends hung out to watch football about Judd Nelson fist pumping, so we exited the church after our ceremony to our string trio playing "Don't You (Forget About Me)". It wasn't traditional but it felt like us. I loved every decision we made- except for thinking that brewing our own beer for the reception & making dog treats as favors out of the spent grain was a good idea. The beer was delicious, but it was probably a lot of unnecessary stress & work. I also think one of our friends accidentally ate a dog treat, even though they were clearly labeled..."

Congratulations Lauren & Zach!
Wishing you all the best in this newest adventure of marriage!
