REAL BRIDE: Katlyn

John & Katlyn Danaher

5.27.2016

Katlyn & John tied the knot with a wedding they describe as elegant & romantic. Beaming from start to finish, this sweet couple started their day with an adorable first look, before saying their 'I dos' during a Catholic ceremony, followed by a glamorous reception celebration at Eighteen Ninety Event Space. Wearing custom Amy Kuschel, Katlyn looked sophisticated & modern - we're in love with her completed bridal look! Whether it's the style, the setting, or the smiles, there are a lot of ideas to borrow from this sweet couple & their beautiful day.

What made you decide to tie the knot on May 27, 2016?
"We decided on May 27 because John had been accepted into medical school & we were to be living in Chicago at the time. We knew our first year in Chicago was going to be pretty hectic & since Kansas City is home to us both, we didn't think twice about coming back to celebrate. A spring wedding allowed a break from our crazy schedules & the ample time needed to focus on our wedding festivities. Our wedding date fell on Memorial Day weekend, which was perfect for our family & friends traveling from out of town. My parents also got married during the month of May, which was another reason we chose a spring wedding. This is so near & dear to my heart because they have been married for 32 years - a true inspiration!"

What advice would you give to future brides in regards to dress shopping?
"Trust your vision! Before I decided on my custom Amy Kuschel gown, I wasn't sure if I was going to find my dream dress. I loved elements from different dresses, so being able to customize my dress & bring all the elements I loved together was perfect. Also, I only brought my mom, dad, sister, godmother, & maid of honor to my appointment. I wanted opinions from those closest to me & having your dress be an element of surprise on your big day is pretty special!"

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
"My favorite moment from our day, hands down, would be John & I's first look. The moment he turned around & saw me in my Something White gown, we both broke down in tears. I felt beautiful & at complete ease. The day we had been planning for almost a year was finally upon us!"

How did the two of you meet?
"We met at St. Pius X High School, where we started dating our Junior year. We then attended college in two different states & after fast-forwarding nine years later, we decided to officially tie the knot!"

Where did you draw your inspiration & ideas from?
"I knew I wanted an elegant & romantic feel on my wedding day, so I drew inspiration from Old Hollywood weddings & of course, Pinterest! We love the city of New Orleans, so we were set on having a live band, which incorporated modern  music & jazz!"

Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
"I wanted a venue that had both indoor & outdoor elements, which is why we fell in love with Eighteen Ninety. The sparkling chandeliers & countryside views made for the perfect combination. I have always been drawn to more natural tones, so without any hesitation, I decided on the pallet of white, ivory, blush, & earthy greenery. I was also very drawn to metallic & rose gold tones, & thought they brought an element of elegance to the overall feel. Our head table had garland down the center with large peonies, baby's breath, & garden roses that added pops of color & softened the greenery. The candelabras & vintage lanterns as centerpieces added a touch of romance & drama."

REAL BRIDE: Erica

Andy & Erica Logan

8.20.2016

A Sally Eagle wedding gown, a gorgeous August day, the Boston Harbor, & a stunning couple, what else could you ask for? Andy & Erica's romantic & sophisticated Tea Town wedding day was one to remember. Complete with greenery & navy bridesmaids dresses, the Logan's wedding day will leave you craving your very own Boston wedding.

What made you decide to get married on August 20, 2016?
"I grew up in Massachusetts so it was very important to me & my family that I got married back on the East Coast. Knowing that the vast majority of our wedding guests would be traveling for the wedding, we decided it would be easiest for everyone if the wedding was in Boston as opposed to outside the city. Convenience is key! Once we started our search, I absolutely fell in love with the venue, Boston Harbor Hotel, & knew it would be the perfect place for our big day. Honestly, we chose the date because it was the only Saturday evening available for the summer of 2016. As it turns out, Andy & his family had visited Boston many years before & stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel- it seemed like fate. The date also worked out perfectly as both my dad & Andy's mom had their birthday's earlier in the week."

What advice would you give to other brides?
"One of my bridesmaids gave me this advice & I am so glad she did... find a time in the days leading up to your wedding to do something with just your fiancĂ©. You won't have any time just the two of you on your wedding day. On the Friday before our wedding, we woke up early & went for a long walk & got coffee & breakfast, just the two of us. It was a perfect way to kick off the weekend & prepare for the whirlwind of the next few days. Also, drink lots of water!"

Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
"My favorite color is navy blue so the bridesmaids wore that & we went with navy tablecloths for the cocktail hour. For the theme & feeling of the room, we wanted it to be very soft & romantic so the space was filled with creams, whites, & golds. Our florist, Orly Kohn, absolutely transformed the room. It was an absolute dream & exactly what I had hoped for & envisioned."

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
"Too many to count! In no particular order, getting ready with my mom, sister, & best friends, our first look, my first look with my dad, saying our vows, our first dance, my dance with my dad, dancing with my nephew, and dancing the night away with our friends & family. Our band, K2, is absolutely amazing & they honestly made it the best night ever. Our absolutely incredible coordinator at Boston Harbor Hotel, Michael Boivin, also arranged for late night food to be delivered to our room so after enjoying the rest of the night at the hotel bar, we had macaroni & cheese & chicken fingers (our guilty pleasures) waiting for us in our room. Absolute perfection."

Congratulations to the Logan's!
Here's to many wonderful years together, filled with love & laughter.
