Brandon & Carly Rangel
01.17.2016
Carly and Brandon wanted their winter wedding to feel intimate and to have a romantic, outdoor, woodsy feel. Are you in love yet? We were as soon as we saw the beautiful result from their team of vendors, who captured and created a truly majestic celebration. Who says you can’t bring the forest indoors?
How did you meet your husband?
"Brandon & I met in October of 2014 when we were in the same small group through our church. We had never really met before, but when the Royals started winning, there were more & more watch parties with our mutual friends. We got to know each other & slowly but surely went on our first date in December. The rest is history!"
Tell us about the proposal!
"My husband & I love to ride our bikes around Kansas City. It was a beautiful fall day & Brandon picked me up & we took our bikes around the city, stopping at different places that were special to us. The last place we rode to was a gorgeous waterfall near downtown KC. We got off our bikes & he proposed to me in front of the waterfall! He had arranged for his sister to be close by & she captured the whole thing!"
What made you decide to tie-the-knot on January 17th?
"We got engaged in October & I thought a winter wedding would be really romantic. I thought it would be fun to start out the new year getting married. We decided on January 17 because it was just after the business of the holidays, but still before spring. Bonus- it was also wedding "off season," so venues weren't booked & it was easy to find one we really loved."
What was your favorite memory from your big day?
"My favorite memory was walking down the aisle to Brandon. We decided not to do a "first look" so this was the first time we were seeing each other & it was just a really happy, emotional moment."
Where did you draw wedding inspiration & ideas from?
"I really just had my own vision of what I wanted the wedding to be like. I always wanted a small, intimate wedding; however, we had about 250 guests. I got a few ideas from Pinterest, but I made a lot of our decorations myself. Our woodsy theme came out in our tree trunk centerpieces & personal s'mores party favors."
What advice would you give to other brides related to bridal attire?
"Try on dresses that you may not have even seen yourself wearing. Dresses look different once you try them on & you might completely fall in love with one that you didn't even picture yourself in."
Another BIG congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Rangel!
